路边设置垃圾箱是为了让居民生活更方便，可一些陋习往往会对这些设施造成损坏。3月6日下午，市民宋先生途经第三幼儿园附近时发现，路边的一个垃圾箱起火了。
垃圾箱旁还停有电动三轮车
在联系沙河规划城管部门后，他们迅速赶到将火熄灭。起火原因或是有人将未熄灭的烟头投入了垃圾箱。规划城管部门表示，每年都会发生垃圾箱起火事件，其中未熄灭的烟头是主要“凶手”。
2月25日下午，人民大街和宋璟路交叉口，一个垃圾箱的垃圾正在燃烧，冒出浓烟。“开始以为是发生火灾了呢。”附近居民说，走近才发现是垃圾箱着火了。
正好，一辆洒水车经过，工作人员立即开始用水灭火，但这辆车剩余水量不足，这时另一辆洒水车赶来，一起将火扑灭。
垃圾箱为何着火？在场的不少市民猜测，可能是有人往垃圾箱里扔进了未熄灭的烟头。
“冬天和春天的时候，垃圾箱着火的次数会比较多。”环卫工人说，因为冬春时节空气比较干燥，稍有一点火星，垃圾箱里的易燃垃圾就很容易起火。
